We usually meet every other month in a local restaurant or coffee shop to support the local community. Things look a little different now with the pandemic. See below for upcoming events and also check out our Facebook page.
Our next meeting will be in May 2021. Weather permitting we will meet outside wearing masks. Otherwise we will meet virtually. Exact date, location and time TBD.
Donate items for our spring online auction! Proceeds will go to our 2021 grant recipient, Golden United. Donations are due April 16, 2021. Please contact us if you have items to give: email@example.com.
Volunteer opportunities with Golden United:
Housing Task Force: A primary focus of Golden United is their Housing Task Force, which is working to preserve and create affordable housing in Golden for all income levels. In addition they promote awareness about housing issues and solutions for Golden and mobilize funding for emergency rent and utility assistance for our residents. This task force is looking for new members! For more information or to join, visit this link.
Community-Wide Celebration Planning Committee: Golden United is planning a community-wide celebration for September or October 2021 to celebrate the return to near normalcy after pandemic lockdown, commemorating those we lost and the families and individuals adversely affected by the pandemic, and to honor health care workers. This might be a progressive block party, individual neighborhood block parties that happen simultaneously, or a community-wide gathering on the School of Mines campus. It will include a community service aspect. If you would like to help shape this event, please complete this form.
Home in Golden's Safe Parking Program: Designed after other successful models this program meets a growing need in our community and is for individuals and families sheltering in their vehicles due to homelessness (all have been screened and background checked). Why is this important? Sheltering in vehicles is often a first stop for individuals who lose permanent housing. Without intervention and support, many fall deeper into homelessness and may eventually end up on the streets. Volunteers are needed to help guests obtain food, clothing, use the computer, the shower and bathroom or just be there to visit with people (with masks of course). If you think you are interested in volunteering or want more information please fill out their volunteer interest form here.
Recent social events have included two virtual card-making parties for Golden Senior Santa, an organization that supports senior citizens in Golden, and a virtual Wine & Cheese Tasting with Cheese Ranch Artisan Deli.
This summer we plan to have an in-person, outdoor celebration gathering. We will publish details when we have them.
